3D monster test

Posted by Lan14n - May 2nd, 2014

I've been playing around with Blender and Unity lately. Here's a short vid on what the monsters look like. Nothing is final and I'm still learning as I go. They currently only have idle animations.

Here is the wireframe for those who are interested:

Looks awesome , love the 3d cartoony style you have

thanks!

Great work, I've been toying with lowpoly 3d stuff (in blender also) and it's pretty challenging.

I think the blender ui makes everything harder.

hey... IT'S ZUBAT! xD Great job :D

Just what I was supposed to say. Zubat. xD

Looking good! You thinking about making a 3d version of Crystal Story?

not yet. just getting myself comfortable with 3d first. see how it goes.

Pretty sick and smooth, yo.

thanks

I feel like all 3d software has hellish interfaces. Something with blender though is I find their hotkeys are very good. You might try learning to do as much as you can via the keyboard hotkeys (if you're not already) It certainly helped me, your work looks fine though, so just keep doing whatever it is you're doing!

yup. i keep forgetting them sometimes. Had to google a lot lol. thanks man

Nice job!
Only thing what I would do is to add modelled fingers for zombie to give it bit less flat look. Even tho you probably are trying to keep polygons as few as possible.

I used to work with Blender too but eventually got fed up with all the bugging and moved to the Maya 2013 stundent versio. Now I am collecting money to be able to buy full versio someday. Cannot really go back anymore to the Blender :/

And I have to agree with Blender UI being hard to use. In Maya it feels like everything is where it is supposed to be.

I'm seriously thinking of just modeling the five fingers instead of just making a palm. I was worried about the rigging though.

sucks that you cant import the stuff you make from the student to the commercial version. :(
